There are chaotic depths we must navigate
Wild churning seas
Littered with unseen wreckage and feelings
That we must fathom
Perceptions and intuitions and sensations
Emerging
Like so many dead fish slowly surfacing
Rising to the border where moving waters
Meet the kiss of air
Are touched sharply by a glimpse of sunlight
Dancing upon the surface
If I tend to keep moving and moving
Never staying any where very long
If I tend to find it hard to stop my
Heart beating wildly
My lungs becoming breathless
Don’t you know there is a reason?
Do not gaze on me with either
Contempt or pity
Try to keep an open mind
As I will with you when your behavior
Becomes such a mystery to me
Aren’t we all just trying to find some kind of way
To swim and surface with grace
To surface without drowning
To build a life raft to carry us
As the tides that swell and rise
And crest and break
Moving us all this way and that
Upon the constantly shifting tides
Of this earthly incarnational life
