The earth is crying
Over the influence of patriarchy
Making ‘concessions’
To the wisest of indignenous peoples
With so much blindness and ignorance
Spirit does not only live in some lofty place
It is embedded deep within the very being of nature
Of this very creation
Rocks and air and birds and animals
Seas and oceans
Mountains, sky and clouds
Waves and streams and fire
Songlines wending their way
In accompaniment to the blowing of the wind
The falling of the rain
The murmuring of the ancestors
It lives deep inside our blood
And is embedded in the very sinew and tissues
That make movement, breath and joy
Possible
Put away your bloody ‘liturgy’
Take the pin out of your neck
That splits your head
From your heart
From the rest of your body
You long ago deemed a place of ‘sin’
Your words make me scream
Can’t you hear the earth mother crying out
What will it take for you to actually
Feel the truth
To actually awaken
And hear her plea
From deep inside your heart ?
A very touching poem! We all are responsible for the present precarious position of mother nature.
