I want to reach for your hand

Don’t let me continue to stand here all alone

In the dark

I know that in this world

Sadness and pain

Is something we must all carry

And the more we resist

This oh so reluctantly received offering

From a darker God

The more we remain

Hidden deep inside the shadows

Of the past

But allowing ourselves to move

Allowing our hands and hearts to reach out

And come back into communion

Will help the healing to flow

And this is something I feel more fully now

As I recognise how long

I hid all alone in the dark

Binding my wounds up

Fearing my sorrow would never be accepted

But it was when you

Reached out a hand to me

That this pain began to move

And now I no longer

Wish to be alone

But also I know I must

Reach within too

Receive this pain

And allow it to teach me its truth

But when you reach out a hand to me

That is when I most feel

The light come in

And then I know

I no longer want

To remain

All alone here
