When you told us 

You were the way the truth and the life

Did we really hear 

What you were saying to us

My heart remembers too how you said

Those who are close to me 

Are close to the fire

So when I feel this flame

Of regret I submit myself to it

So that I can be burned clean

From my false ideas

Of what is real

And the light you brought to us

Was a message of unconditional love

So if they put you to death

Didn’t they forget

Or turn a deaf ear

To what you were trying to say to us

Unless you become as a little child

You will not enter the kingdom of heaven

Because you will not realise

It is both within and all around you

You just forgot this fact

When you were taught to fall asleep

By a culture steeped

In forgetting
