Grief is not a straight line
Leading to a destination
It is a topsy turvy ride
That leads a soul to spaces of despair
And so many other feelings
We can never be prepared to manage
So be kind to those who know loss
If you did not suffer the same
Can you really know the cost
To a soul
Of this kind of change
That wrattles their being
To the very core?
Mourning is a process
One we must
Surrender to
Opening the door of our being
To the darkest rooms
Only later to glimpse a chink of sunlight flowing through
If we are lucky
And if not the fall may be tragic
As we find ourselves stripped bare
In a place devoid of magic
Sometimes we do not just have the capacity
‘To move on’
To move forward
To cut off the past
But perhaps we do have the capacity
To move sideways
Taking the person and the experience of loss with us
As we encounter the new
And even find ourselves laughing
Then we know renewal is here
Has become even more possible
Due to our soul encountering the truth
Of grieving
If we can, endure the, rollercoaster ride of grief, and, still be in, one piece when we, finally, get off of that, rollercoaster, then, there’s, nothing else we can’t, conquer from, our, lives.
