Never had he seen such terror
Reflected inside the eyes of
A little baby who absorbed the awful truth
Of a country being invaded
By the darkest of forces
At that time all of the babies cried
All of the babies literally felt
The invasion
Deep inside of their cells
Which created a wound
That lived on
In silence
(but could never be truly be
completely silent)
But then there is another
More confusing wound
The one of needs not met
Even in loving families
At the hands of loving parents
Who knew no better
Of a self not seen
A being not allowed
Full expression
Sadly our parents
Never knew
The scars they left
Etched deep in our body and soul
The truth of the pain
Those bearers
Had to carry in silence
Descending in time
To the deepest pit of both
Fracture and
Emptiness
Where we struggled alone
Sadly minimising
Or discounting over and over
The depth of it all
That fracturing of the self
The separation
Creates the hugest dilemma
Of attachment and authenticity denied
And of the remorse that comes
From not trusting the truth you felt
You will never meet a one day old infant
that is not in touch with its gut
and you will never meet a one day old infant
who is not being absolutely itself
so what happens
were we not created
in the image of God
not born
to become imitation
shade or shadow
losing touch with ourselves?
how awful it is
and what a wound it leaves
what a loss
what a grief
without healing attachments
without emotional insight
without attunement
were do we go
it is like gravity this
we need the care of others
of those who love and accept and understand us
AS WE TRULY ARE
how do we survive if it is lost
and to what do we turn
the answer lies in addiction
and so it is we turn away
from the truth inside
denying the pain of both
the wounding and the wanting
until in time
we must face the source
answering with compassion
facing the reality of what it is
we really needed
really lost the way to
Have you read “The Myth of Normal”? I thought it was excellent. Next week I volunteering at a session where Gabor Mate is the speaker!!! ‘should be great π

Wow thars fantastic. No I haven’t read the book yet im just about to phone my local bookstore about it. Tell me how it goes, that will be such a special experience. I’m devouring all his talks and videos at the moment. As a cancer survivor it all makes sense.

I was thinking about him when I opened your email. I knew exactly who you were speaking of in the first few lines too xx

Yes I used what he said as part of the poem. More doctors need to get on board with what he is saying. Have a lovely day Poppy. π
