I find a lot of grounded wisdom in the perspectives Alain de Botton shares, this talk explains how as humans flaws and missing the mark is just part of life, making it easier for us to go lightly upon ourselves and each other, be vulnerable and connect.
I find a lot of what Alain de Botton shares enlightening, and thought-provoking, too. I especially enjoyed his various TED talks.

I really like his take on life. I listen a lot to the short videos shared by The School.of Life and they are so meaningful about our modern insane condition where so many superficial concerns dominate. Really powerful and enlightening.

Thanks for this. It made me think of one of the people I spoke to yesterday, a young girl. She was all of 16 and was telling me about her life. I felt such empathy for her. She was desperate for human connection and I am glad I gave it to her for the 15 minutes we had. Yes, being vulnerable with someone else does make for better human connections than just trying to impress people. She was open to me, a stranger, about her struggles, as she needed a ear and I am glad I helped her feel better, as she told me that when the bus was in sight. By the time we went separate ways, she was smiling. I am glad my education these past few years also helped someone else.

Aww that touches my heart so. I have those moments with others and they mean so so much. I am so glad you could be there for her, Stella

Me too. It makes my struggles worthwhile if I can help someone else feel a bit better about their own lives.
