Let me be sad for a while
Over the things that hurt me so much
I know we should not need
Permission to grieve
But in a culture that rejects these vulnerable feelings
Often those who carry them
Can be sidelined
Since they do not always assume the most endearing
Of disguises
Let me show love to myself
And to you
So that these feelings can rise and fall
And naturally move on through
As they are meant to do
So that I can gain
Wisdom
Understanding
Insight
And healing
Let me sit by that wild ocean for a while
While watching the sun dance upon it
As I seek the glow of angels
And feel myself held tenderly
By wings of love
That give me the permission
To be true to my soul
And to feel and release
All of my natural feelings
There is a song that resonates with your poem mate

We are socialized to show only the more acceptable emotions, the positive ones, and to, keep those negative emotions(i.e anger, sadness, grief, rage) to ourselves, and, when we have outbursts, the world’s feedback for them is: we don’t accept you, and, we internalize that, and start to, disown our own, negative feelings.
