You gave me no place to rest
To be
To acknowledge this
Your body was a thing of fury and fire
Like barbed wire
It cut into me
Leaving iron filings lodged
Beneath flesh
This made of my body
An inhospitable place
Where not a trace of tenderness
Or self respect could live
Instead all you saw of my natural self
Was an imperfect thing
In need of improving
Can I continue to shame and turn away
As you did
From the very being of deep soul
That needs my love
Wild Ocean
I will find a way to love your restless tides
To surrender my body
To be dragged under
Then surface and rise
I will learn to love the storms
Even as deep inside my being
A truer part of me
Aches for the glimpse of a golden sunrise
Let me find a way to no longer refuse this
Terrible and magnificent creation
In both dark and light
Help me to fathom the depths
To seek the dark pearl
And to hold fast to the wisdom that comes
With seeming confusion and madness
After all
All of this deep sadness
Makes sense
Only when I kneel
To love
And embrace it
