You have the power
You always did
The world revolved around your desire
And then you could not see anyone else
At all
We ached to be connected to you
And your father you know he gave everything
To let you have your dream
But in the end the stress of the ongoing
Financial toll killed him
How dare you say he didn’t take care of himself
When all he did was try to ease your way
What the fuck
Will you wake up
Do I have to carry this rage?
I lost him so young
Do you even care where it took me
Into the depths of addiction
And is it even fair to feel this anger now
Am I just a victim?
I do believe in love
I reach out now when I can
To those who will help me
To love and keep loving
Because bitterness is a poison
But sometimes it is so very hard
Not feeling I have the power
All I know is that my heart is pure
But why did Jesus say
The meek shall inherit the earth
Is our anger and fighting all in vain
Or will those with all of the power
Always tread
With hobnail boots
Over our wounded hearts and souls
If we cannot find any possible way
To claim our power?
We often, are forced to, carry these things that aren’t ours to carry in the first place, and, we had no choice, as we were, way too young, but, as we grow older, we need to, realize, that all of that, wasn’t, our, responsibilities, and, we eventually, let our selves, off the hook, it’s just that, this is, usually, really hard for us to do… because, it takes, a long, long time, and sometimes, we get, stuck…
