Sometimes I forget
Peace lives in the present moment
Anxiety is about a future
That has not yet arrived
And will do so regardless of my worrying about it
Trauma, damage and pain lies in the past
And yet it intervenes
All of the time
The point is
How will I meet it
What will I tell myself about it
And will I just allow it a place
To flow on through
While I breathe
Rather than resist or freeze
While not attaching and stirring up
More angst?
What of the present moment
Full of simplicity and joy
That arrives fresh in every instant?
What about the sheer happiness
Of dropping into being
Allowing myself just to find
Comfort and relaxation
Following the breath
Witnessing the beauty of nature
In a moment when
No pain can hurt me?
I choose from now on
Not to knot up my heart
In rejection, judgement or angst
To just surrender to
And allow the flow
Of what arrives as a gift
Offered to me by life
Should I choose
To open my heart to it
In this present moment
Beautiful deborah, great inspiration this Sunday morning… I’m going to send it to my husband who’s lying in hospital❤️ just breathing and relaxing in the now moment, however hard it must be🙏 sending love, barbara x

The present moment is never as bad as what is happening in our heads.
