There is a softer way
To find
A pathway through
That does not deny our pain
As others would rather
We do
Authenticity in this
Badly disjointed day and age
Is often not
Looked up with acceptance
So be willing to become a person
Who lives without approval
There are a million ways
To deny the Self
To silence a pain
That in the end must be felt
And just because others are numb
Do not be fooled
Possibly this life never tried to break them
In similar ways
Or if it did
They had to deny it
And so they will deny you too
What is the point of arguing with
A numbed out fool
Save your breath
And energy
For it is precious
Isn’t it your task
To cherish it
Committing absolutely to
Those things that bring you
Joy
Peace
Love
And happiness

What a powerfully beautiful poem, my dear friend. I know this path well and resonate with you. I have learned that those we choose to surround ourselves with will love us just as we are, authentic and true. As for the rest? Well, we can, as you write so eloquently,
“What is the point of arguing with
A numbed out fool
Save your breath
And energy
For it is precious” I completely agree. Wishing you a lovely holiday season filled with love and light. 💖💖
