The experiences of writer Tony McAleer make interesting reading.. I have just started his book The Cure for Hate : A Former White Supremacist’s Journey from Violent Extremism to Radical Compassion. Interesting to note that Tony’s father was a psychiatrist and that Tony endured beatings at the hands of a particularly violent brother as a young student before he followed a pathway of hate into white supremacy The following link shares some of his story and links to a site The Forgiveness Project which focuses on the power of story, collecting and sharing real stories of transformation in order to help others transform the lived experience of pain and trauma in their own lives.
It is always powerful to read stories of radical transformation and awakening, which bear witness to the fact it is never too late for our wounding to turn into a source not only of healing but also of social action and education.
Yes, it’s encouraging to know that change is always possible even in those we think can never change!!! Thanks for sharing this.
