An AA Prayer : some reflections

As we recover we pray each day to be guided by a loving inner power, seeking its will for us. Many of us also pray to be released from ‘the bondage of self’ but the truth is so often we do not have a solid centre of balanced self consciousness to claim and hold onto and lacking this at times life can seem overwhelming, and so we pray for wisdom, self acceptance and calm too the trust that we can grow wide and deep enough to contain it all.and slowly build that centre even out of pain and loss or other grief.

I was given a little card by someone in my first AA days with similar length of sobriety that said ‘faith gives us an anchor in the storm’ the foundation of self belief gives us this too, that a loving power sees knows and cares about and for us. In abandonment trauma we lose this and we have a hell of a lot if inner work to do to work on this to build a loving inner foundation.

Learning what is productive or destructive too, what keeps us grounded in care, respect and self maintenance helps as we learn how to extend this to others struggling too recognising we all have a Self and yet are part too of a deeply interconnected collective of selves. For truly whatever we go through others go through too. And as alone as we can feel at times inner sources of comfort are always available and there are always ways to reach both inward and onwards to connect

"The religious naturalist is provisioned with tales of natural emergence that are, to my mind, far more magical than traditional miracles. Emergence is inherent in everything that is alive, allowing our yearning for supernatural miracles to be subsumed by our joy in the countless miracles that surround us." Ursula Goodenough How to describe oneself? People are a mystery and there is so much more to us than just our particular experiences or occupations. I could write down a list of attributes and they still might not paint a complete picture pf Deborah Louise and in any case it would not be the full truth of me. I would say that my purpose here on Wordpress is to express some of my random experiences, thoughts and feelings, to share about my particular journey and explore some subjects dear to my heart, such as emotional recovery, healing and astrology while posting up some of the prose/poems which are an outgrowth of my labours with life, love and relationships. If anything I write touches you I would be so pleased to hear for the purpose of reaching out and expressung ourselves is hopefully to connect with each other and find where our souls meet.
