I wrote this as a stream of consciousness poem researching old writing prompts on WordPress.
The waters of your soul froze
Under his steely gaze
There was not way to speak of those things
Most essential to your heart
When he held you captive within the vice of negation
But deep inside your body the ice began to melt
As your tears fell in silence
And then it was you gazed upon a puddle
Reflecting a thousand night stars
And in time all of this steam rises
As the sun shines upon the truth
You can no longer hide from
Points of light begin to gleam
Piercing through the indigo blue
Of your soul
There were a million ways of running
You tried them all
But the person you longed for
Was patiently waiting there all along
Hidden deep inside your heart and soul
All folded up like a piece of complex origami
The colors of is magic design
Dazzle
As you fall
Into the place of recollection
While all of those fractured pieces of yourself
That scattered
Rearrange themselves
Into a new pattern
A dizzy soul defining kaleidoscope
A magical new design
This is so beautifully written. I love the metaphorical use of ice and steam and of the colors too.
