only a body that has tasted love
will be able to share
its tender poetry
perhaps that is why
so often my poems lie
fallow
like my body did
today you said
in a poem
flesh forgets nothing
but for it never to have been
touched tenderly
for it only to have been torn apart
by injuries
that many times
severed skin from flesh
well can anyone who had not
borne that burn
know the searing pain of it
or how it makes you become
fear?
so if I ran from your touch
if I held myself apart
that is why
if my body often spasmed at night
could not surrender itself easily
to love or sleep
that is why
so for you to blame me as you did
God it hurt
For all along all I wished for
was to have that pain
recognized
met with a velvet touch
and a kiss
of love
A very emotional poem Deb … 💔💕

I thought this poem was very honest about pain and filled with a longing for the touch of a lover. It moved me.

Thank you so much.. I do believe that even goes back to how we were not held or comforted as young babies or children.. I was born during the 1960s I do not know about you but not much affection was shown in a bodily way.. and often my body was hurt so that is triggered ( I now understand) in each new relationship.
Thanks so much for your valuable feedback.
