Loss makes us deepen. Losing my beloved friend Teen in 2019 inspired this poem. I am grateful I had her friendship for two years following Mum’s death. By a curious twist of synchronicity she was born in the same year as my beloved sister Judith who died in 2014. Always in my heart beloved ladies. π

Sometimes unbidden memories come
As I watch the sun
Shine
Revealing glints of gold
As a vision of you
Appears between the spaces
Hidden in the traces
Of thoughts that drift
To my awareness
Reality then splits
Between present and past
As I recognise how little lasts
And how much we do not know
The way to go
With life
There are heartbreaks that will remain
Forever etched on our souls
But heaven knows
That in time
There will be a new path to choose
And ways to let the memories in
No longer closing the door
On what felt so hard
And now must be touched lightly
And let go
Surrendered ever so silently and gently
To the wind
Itβs beautiful. Sending you hugs. x
