I just came across the following reading from Tian Dayton on patience with ourselves and I thought a lot too of my lovely blogger friend Ivor Plumber/Poet who so often introduces me to such wonderful music, the band Hollow Coves have such a gentle tone to their songs so here is Tian Dayton’s reading on Patience and a song I found after Ivor introduced me to Hollow Coves early this year about the same quality of waiting patiently.
Today I will be patient with myself. When I do not do as well as I wish I would, I will not make that a reason to be down on myself. I will instead recognise that the fastest way to bring myself out of a painful funk is through understanding and being good to myself. I get caught in my own cycle, of shame, resentment and blame. If a child is upset, I comfort it as I understand that that is what will make things better. Calling a child names will increase its sense of hurt, shame and aloneness. I will not call myself names either. Rather I will show love and patience in any way I can.
I am patient with myself.
Patience accomplishes its object, while hurry speeds to its ruin.
Patience truly is a virtue and a divine soul quality 👏🤗
