Wilderness

Wilderness stretches before me

An open space

Of bountiful grace

That once felt to me like a curse

There I ran with all of their voices

Ringing in my ears

Full of despair and fear

But there I also found myself

Within this vast expanse

A place of liberation

Where I can finally be

Feeling free

To touch the earth

And sense the love of the angels

Present in all of these forces of nature

Healed by a breath of fresh wind

I sense the cacophony fade

As all that is man made

Falls away

And feeling alive I smile

Knowing exile

Was necessary

And even though my heart ached

As my spirit seemed to entirely break

From their rejection

Really this was just

My soul awakening

The price I paid

For feeling my life

And being true

To myself
