Bleed no more : my remembrance day poem

I wrote this poem many years ago..it never made it out of drafts…some of my writing I judge perhaps unworthy of an airing..today I will set it free. ♥️

I am sorry you are so unhappy

I am sorry you are in pain

But don’t ask me to bleed with you

Anymore

I was

The inheritor of this mantle

And believe me I no longer want to identify as the doomed soldier

Returning from a battle I never started

I have already done a thousand rounds of trauma

In scoured out trenches deep

And left with shrapnel pieces lodged beneath flesh

They hurt me at night

And on awakening I do my best to remember

The war is now over

I will join the dots on these scars

And turn them into a work of art

My soul`s tattoo

Testament

That I am a survivor of a war

I never started

And wish to sign off on

Today I will remember

The ancestor who was

Blue by name and blue by nature

Who fought in their war

And then departed

Leaving an empty trail of loss

That haunted us all for the next three generations

I will remember and honour

But also lay to rest

With his ghost

That pain

This hurt

That sorrow

I know the depth of this and from whence it came

But now my spirit longs for freedom

As my soul it cries

I will bleed no more

For this war

I could write down a list of attributes and they still might not paint a complete picture pf Deborah Louise and in any case it would not be the full truth of me. I would say that my purpose here on Wordpress is to express some of my random experiences, thoughts and feelings, to share about my particular journey and explore some subjects dear to my heart, such as emotional recovery, healing and astrology while posting up some of the prose/poems which are an outgrowth of my labours with life, love and relationships. If anything I write touches you I would be so pleased to hear for the purpose of reaching out and expressung ourselves is hopefully to connect with each other and find where our souls meet.

      2. Aww we had that weather on Friday and Saturday Ivor.. it took me down with other things.. I hope the sun comes out again for you soon.. that’s if you don’t find that weather too much….hugs in return, Ivor ( (( )))

      3. Makes it a bit harder to walk done….. but I’ve been driving down to Pakington St shops, and walking under the cover of the shop verandahs, to stay out of the weather, and still get my walk done…xx
