Damage

How can one human being

Hurt another

So deeply

How can a vulnerable child

Suffer so

At the hands of those with power

And then be told

It didn’t happen

Or worse

That by now

He or she should be over their suffering?

How can family just stand by

And do nothing when the truth is told

Or even worse

Say that the child just has to

Toughen up

Put it all behind them

Stop ‘being a victim‘

Or ‘making a scene’

It’s not only wrong

It’s invalidation abuse

It causes heartbreak

Soul ache

And suicidal despair
