Yesterday, when I cried
You asked me who
I was crying for
And in my imagination
I was so far away
In our narrow garden
Near the walnut tree
As in my mind’s eye
I saw the red robin jump
As the squirrel ran along the fence
In a mad dash
To bury walnuts
Yes, I know this is the past
But maybe so long ago
I sacrificed my heart
When I left that place
Where you and I were
For two summers
So wild and free
And perhaps my heart
Will sometimes always ache
With the memories
And yet I know in time
These feelings pass
And today I must not totally sacrifice my heart
In distant reverie
For such is the topsy turvy dance
Of memory
Absolutely stunning Deb! Beautiful! β€
