I will hold onto tenderness
I know you tried your best
To love me
And I know my fears and wounds
Played a part too
God knows
Neither of us holds a monopoly on truth
And in the end
We can only choose to do
What suits us best
But we should never forget
That everyone has their desires and hopes
And sometimes the clash of needs
Drowns our hearts
In deep seas of longing and regret
Which is why we must hold onto tenderness
And not forget
We do the best we can
At the time
And we can always learn
From each experience
How to be
Wiser and kind
Truer to tenderness
