So far away
I cannot touch your face
Or feel your embrace
And dark echoes grow of longing
Here I am alone
My heart growing cold as a stone
That I must take closer to the warmth of fire
For I cannot bear to lose myself in this
Unresolved longing
Isn’t it just another form of death
Or deep denial?
There must be another way to connect
With someone who is close
But how to break out of
The prison of this isolation
Negation of my own urges for life and happiness
I am growing so tired
Getting negatively wired
With the pain of things I cannot change
Realising that even I do not blame myself
I must now, take the responsibility
Seeking the way to come closer
Change this pattern of
Absence that is nothing but the repeat
Of the broken refrain
Of a very old song
Sung for far too long
Of pain, trauma, loss and isolation
wonderful Deb! Great poem! As always! ❤

A profound in-depth insight Deb, and your finale lines summed up the direction to take superbly
“Change this pattern of
Absence that is nothing but the repeat
Of the broken refrain
Of a very old song
Sung for far too long
Of pain, trauma, loss and isolation”
