I feel the fire of desire burn
For dreams unfulfilled
And for pain that settled around a heart
So often watchful and alone
So often driven into silence
Is it any wonder
I seek the comfort of trees
And look to the green leaves
For soothing
As our country burns
Sometimes I experience this yearning for
An after life
Where I can rest peacefully
Within the warm in embrace of those
I loved deeply
Who have passed
I forget the fact that life may be
Full of possibility
For new connections
But can we turn it around
Now
Sometimes I question why
I see death everywhere
And seek comfort in the dark
I want to shield my eyes
From all of this pain, intolerance
Ignorance and strife
And look towards a warmer happier sunrise
But then all I see is the sun burning up
The softness of the leaves
Driven by white mans
Disconnection and greed
And then I wonder
When humans will wake
And stop this world
From burning

Love this poem, I can relate you are lucky to have places to go for relief. I have nowhere to go except close the door on the life around me and sit with my cats Tabitha and Jemima who are at the door to welcome me in the home.

Are you living with people you cannot escape or is there no nature close by?

I am free to go the only restriction is my guesthouse I have to sell it. No nature near by it is cluttered with litter.

I wont press like. Yes even with the fires here I am very very spoiled with where I live. I must count my blessings.
