I lost my poetry
When you lied to me
Apricot tinged sunsets
Turned into reminders of murky waters
With scorpions lurking
Far beneath the surface
When it was revealed
Your entire purpose
Was a twisted thing
And as my heart grew heavier
All rhythm was paralysed
Turned into a painful tornique
I strangled inside
Until all my words were stolen
Or turned to ash
Poetry then became for me
A difficult thing
A bringer only of pain
Whereas before
I flew high on wings of metaphor
Now like Icarus instead
My winged flight ended
In a blaze of fire
As poetry became the hidden casualty
Falling ashes scattering
Littering the hollow space
That opened
Between you and me
A very potent and passionate poem Deb, I can feel the anguish with your every word……I think this is an appropriate song Deb ((Hugs))
