False
Evidence
Appearing
Real
For you are so often
Only a phantom that comes
Trying to bring my best laid plans
Undone
You are so often, too
The voice of doubt
That whispers in my ear
Under cover of night
Don’t trust
Don’t try
And what’s the use
But sadly
If I always listen to you
Often you will lead
My heart astray
Confusing the unreal
With the as yet unmanifested
Meditation on Fear
(paraphrased from Tian Dayton)
Today I allow myself to experience my fears and not allow them to dictate my life circumstances. It is natural that I have them as growth and change magnify the role of fear. However it is possible to comfort myself in the midst of fear, I do not have to scare myself even more. Feelings that have been repressed and start to emerge in recovery are very powerful and it takes courage to feel them. But feelings are not always facts about outside situations. When I face them and allow myself to pass through them, my life is enhanced.
When men are ruled by fear, they strive to prevent
the very changes that will abate it.
Alan Paton
So so true. Really understand the poem.
