My heart feels your heart
In this moment of tenderness
As I reach towards you
My being senses your unspoken grief
As it lays sleeping below the surface
Of all the words you cannot say
My self senses the healing in you
Taking place
Over the time
The learning to live with difficult things
Life threw your way
As I understand
That before
I could not really see you at all
Beyond my own thwarted needs and projections
But now I honour the truth of who you are
Someone separate yet connected to me
Who also suffered
Someone who shares the familial threads
That bind but also loosen
As we learn more gentle ways
To reach for each other
To stay connected
To express love

Oh Deb, how we learn our own tenderness as we slowly rediscover our hidden feelings…… (I hope it’s ok to call you Deb…)
