Compassion through the pain

There we were

Infinite horizon stretching before us

As you opened your heart to me

With all of its most deeply hidden secrets

As we felt the tenderness

That arises between friends and lovers

Who understand the hopes and joys and sorrows and pains

Of each other’s life

I will always be grateful too

For the way we could smile through

Even after deepest tears were shed

Knowing how much wisdom often comes

As a result of the wounding

And so if we shared the secrets

Of each others selves

We could also

Celebrate the strength of our spirit

That carried us through

That was able to make meaning of it all

Birthing wisdom from the tears
