The willow spoke its words of love
Resting here peacefully
By the quiet stream
Weeping
Its honest truth is seeping
Into the sacred ground
That fills my soul
With so much love
Heaven’s above
You nurtured the growth of this
Leaf and wood
As well as supple branches that withstood
The onslaught of the most powerful
Winds
If only my soul could
Know this kind of strength
But I am not a solitary tree
Just given over to weeping
Hidden pain
Ever so slowly seeping
Into the hallowed ground of me
Today how I wish I could be instead
The crown of stars
That shine their blessings down
Lighting sheen on glittering leaves
Peppering the willow tree’s
Supple branches
Under a full moon dancing
As rainbows of light
Reveal
A hidden trail of tears
And so many fears
Obscuring the ancestor’s long journey to here
By the side of a stream
In safe keeping
I feel you willow weeping
Sensing
Held so deeply here
Within your silence
The hearts and souls of loves
Long past
Hungering for remembrance
Every time
We pay attention to these
Boundless gifts of nature
With heart’s and soul’s
True reverence
Oh wow this is so lovely Deb! I really love it!
