Out here in the wilderness
I feel you breathing your sense of life
Into me
Here when we find ourselves
Out in open space
With clear vistas of the horizon
Extending
Open arms in benediction
Toward us
We find a sense of the natural world
As our soul’s truest home
And yet the world of humans
Is sometimes comfort
Sometimes curse
And we all know
Of those bleak wildernesses we find
When others turn
Their hearts and minds
So very far away from us
Is it then
That we must go in search
Of a wilder wilderness
Towards the creatures of silence
Who more easily witness and know
The silent truth burning under cover
Deep inside our souls
And here in this wilderness
No matter how alone
We discover a richer comfort
A truer home
For deep in the heart of this wilderness
Reflected in the eyes and soul
Of nature
We find love
So beautiful!
