Love will have its way

Surely if we open our hearts

Fully to love

There is going to be a time

We experience the flood of pain and despair

As the one we love is taken away

For it is said that for everything

There is a time

And time and tide wait for no man

And yet we are also

Asked to be an active participant

And to ride the swell

Having no ultimate control as to whether

It beaches us

In heaven or hell

For life it is true

Is just an endless play

Of dualities

Of happiness and sadness

Oscillating

With freedom and confinement

Joy and pain

And the only way to insulate our hearts

That remains

Is to stop the flow of life

From riding us through

To take out the knife

And sever our connection to everything

And then to enfold ourselves safely

Within the embrace

Of a living death?

And in the end

It remains for each heart to choose

How to ride the tumultuous swings

Of win and lose

And how to bear the awesome truth that

To love fully

Is to embrace the possibility of loss fully

To know that one day

Love may bring pain

Loss from gain

As we are forced to surrender

The soul of someone

That was never ours

To tie down or claim

"The religious naturalist is provisioned with tales of natural emergence that are, to my mind, far more magical than traditional miracles. Emergence is inherent in everything that is alive, allowing our yearning for supernatural miracles to be subsumed by our joy in the countless miracles that surround us." Ursula Goodenough How to describe oneself? People are a mystery and there is so much more to us than just our particular experiences or occupations. I could write down a list of attributes and they still might not paint a complete picture pf Deborah Louise and in any case it would not be the full truth of me. I would say that my purpose here on Wordpress is to express some of my random experiences, thoughts and feelings, to share about my particular journey and explore some subjects dear to my heart, such as emotional recovery, healing and astrology while posting up some of the prose/poems which are an outgrowth of my labours with life, love and relationships. If anything I write touches you I would be so pleased to hear for the purpose of reaching out and expressung ourselves is hopefully to connect with each other and find where our souls meet.

  1. I totally resonated with last stanza here, the huge questions of how we are to handle love and then loss !!

    To know that one day
    Love may bring pain
As we are forced to surrender
    The soul of someone

      1. I’ve ridden all the pain levels, and now I’m on a plateau of being comfortable with my loss, and I now seem to be able to cope with my every life and the odd situations that arise……

      2. That is wonderful Ivor. It is a process… there is life after loss. My Dad used to always say this. “just remember life is for the living and life goes on” sometimes though it takes time to learn to live again. ❤
