I opened my heart like a flower
And my petals got soaked
In yet another rain shower
Now my soul is all bedraggled
As tears fall
With the pain of missing you
After your latest blow through
Like the uncontainable breeze
You disappeared
Ruffling autumn leaves
Causing them to surrender
Their hold on trees
Apparently they call this
Repeating the past unconsciously
Due to emotional absence
We attract the same
The one who makes so many promises
But is always unable to stay
For some reason
Something calls them away
While we wait
With our petals all bedraggled
Not really knowing any more
A way to stay closed
If we pretended it didn’t hurt
We lied
And then denied
The longing in a heart that ached
And was doomed to witness
Its own breaking
Repeating
Time after time
Left all alone to mine
The abandoned pits of longing
Left behind
From earlier losses
Delivered all alone
To the compulsive repeating
Of a pain
We must reclaim
And find some way
To make our peace with
Thanks a lot for the awesome post.
