broken

I do not know

if there is anyway to repair between us

what is broken

I do not believe that there is

anymore

a way to bridge this gap

that grew wider

with every misunderstanding

for sometimes it seems

things are meant to break

and there is not ever meant to be

a resolution

and perhaps sometimes

we can travel

only so far along life’s road

together

and so it is

that we must find a way

to go on

to surrender the hope

of fixing what was broken

for the breaking apart

may have been essential

so that

we could find

new connections

new paths

new life

new hope
