The autumn wind spoke to me again
In gusts and whispers
Reminding me of how fleeting are the seasons
Although summer heat seemed to last so long
Suddenly autumnal chill stole away the power
Of that burning sun
As deluge of rain fell
Freshening everything
We walked in joy along the pathway
Wending its way by the canal
You trotting in that jaunty way you have
Filling my heart with love
These are the precious moments
All alone in silence
As I feel and hear the wind whispering its secrets
So far from the care of other humans
Possibly it is not enough to sustain a soul
This autumnal brush of wind against cheeks
But for today it gave me sweet relief
From life’s recent trials and tribulations
A place for just an hour
To feel the breath of God
And bask in the healing radiance
Of sunlight
I found your two lines profoundly inviting to keep on reading your glorious poem
“The autumn wind spoke to me again
In gusts and whispers”
