Don’t love me
It hurts too much
I would rather keep this barbed wire
Wrapped around my soul
Because the truth is
Deep inside I am terrified to be known
I also have so much pain
Over what was done to me
That when you come again
So close to me
I cannot breathe
So I will hold to my boundary
Of what is right and wrong
So that I do not have to risk
Too much vulnerability
Deborah, this is one of those poems that your soul shines through.
