Blue electric fire

You come bringing fire

Electric bolts of blue

Piercing the gloom

There is light around me

And in the midst of this fire

I am burning

As I feel the restriction

Of these prison bars

That kept me safe

My heart is fluttering in my chest

Like a bird excited by rain

And then there is the pain

That floods each channel of my body

No way of knowing

If I can bear this life

That you bring

Calling me to awaken from sleep

When death seems to stalk

The perimeters

Of each orange tinged morn

I am again being torn apart

Inside that blue metal space

And as my heart races

I see it all speeding by

Every blessing

Every curse

Playing back in reverse

As I struggle to breathe

Within the flame

Electric fire

Raining down on me

Calling awake the reminders

Of all the ways

I struggled to live

Struggled to be free
