I am reblogging this as its my opinion so many who end up with diagnostic labels from psychiatry are actually more awake than those who continue along fine in a shut down culture. I wish there was more awareness around empathy and high sensitivity.
I have my struggles in this life in regards to being able to provide for myself. Nevertheless I still see and experience hope, joy, peace, and love. I have a deep appreciation for nature and all life forms. Nowadays I don’t like labeling my struggles as Mental Illness because it has negative connotations. I don’t like labels in general. I prefer to use a more positive lens by calling myself an Empath.
I agree with you so much Deborah. Why do human beings always have a need to label others? It isn’t only with regard to mental illness, but all sorts of other things too. I could name some. But stereotyping is a cruel and horrible thing, that fails to treat the other as a full human being. Sad!

I definitely like this take on things too, even though it’s not always accepted within the empath/highly sensitive community. I mean, I wanted to join a group for discussing high sensistivity in depth and disclosed in my introductory post that I’d been diagnosed with mental illness And autism. I was soon kicked out of the group for being too unique.

Astrid there is a great Facebook group called The Awakened Empath community. You may find a lot of support and like minded people there too. I was going to write a post about it a while back but I held off for some reason. Reason I am saying this is that (as you know) only empaths really understand each other the best. hugs and love ❤
