Fear dogs many of my waking moments
Because of the traumas that I have experienced and seen
Wave after wave of trauma repeating
Made me a slave to fear
The rush of adrenaline that comes
When things appear to be coming undone again
And I feel myself caught up in the tumble
Of the wave of trauma’s cascade
And everything is reeling
With these terrible feelings
Wave upon wave upon wave
Dragging me under
As I wrestle and flounder
Fighting my way to the surface
Of calmer waters again
