I love that I am alive

I love that I am alive

I am grateful for the sun

I find such happiness in nature

And I am happy that the traces

Of every single experience I have lived through

Are present in my heart and mind and soul

Even if buried underneath the surface

Only emerging at the bidden time

 

If I could do it all again

Would I honestly change a thing

I think not, for God is wise

And recently someone told me

That everything is written in a celestial book

And we must of necessity

Meet our destiny

 

For some this may sound

Like a cop out or a sign of doomed resignation

But for me it speaks of a certain freedom

And bears testament to the fact

That the truest of heroic tasks

Is to just show up

And accept the slings and arrows

While doing our best to arm our selves

With a heart and mind and soul

As full to the brim with love and acceptance

As we can manage
