The promise of you

Visits me like a whisper on the breeze

As I move through my day

Contemplating the beauty of trees

Open fields of roses in bloom

Finally laying my body down in fallen leaves

Touching base with nature

Imagining how it would be to share

All of this beauty with you

 

Daytime and night time

There is only the thought of you

To occupy my inner vision endlessly

 

And in a life so often subject to revision

Sins of omission

Are all so long gone now

And I sense disappointment fading away

With the dawning of this love we are finding

Setting a fire ablaze

Within the heart of each other

Incinerating past pain

And revealing in the ashes

Scattered jewels just ripe for the picking

Offering the promise of a future that glows coppery gold

After so many wilderness years

Of rust and tarnish and broken souls

 

And on the day when we finally get to awaken

Side by side

We will finally witness the sun

Rising in each others eyes

After all the night journeys

Of bliss we take

Amidst the stars
