One day I believe
I will be alive
Not heart broken dead
Struggling every day to survive
Somedays I catch a glimpse
Of a world of laughter
Music and dancing
I left behind
On the brink of terror and change
When it seemed I would never find again
My way back
To that lost paradise
I lived in as a child
One day soon I hope
That you will come
To my front door
In a body
Bringing with you all the light and hope and promise
Of the vital fire
You tell me every day is burning in your heart
Re igniting mine
One day
I hope you wont be so very far away
In a land where everyday
African people fight for survival
But until that day I will try
To live
To dance
To breathe
To hope
To dream
And not to cry so many tears as now
When I come home
Once again to an empty house
And feel as though
My heart is completely breaking
