Close to you

Dear Lord

You know all the workings of my inner mind and heart

You see and know everything about me

You will never judge me

But always give me an opportunity to learn

And to set things right

Even if I fail

You will not exclude me

You have created a world in which there is great beauty

Sadly some of us are too caught up to notice it

And so we miss the light and life in things

Because a painful past or thoughts and fears keep us trapped

I know that I feel closest to you

When I am in the stillness

Or sitting with a loved one

In happiness or pain

Or feeling the awesome splendor of you in nature

Those moments of deeper connection are invaluable to me

And you made me with a heart to recognise them

As well as with a heart to suffer

Let me remember

That even loss and suffering is a gift

It reminds me of what has most value to me

There will be times in any life when we feel so very far from you

So very far from Love

Light

Hope

Gratitude and Peace

But my greatest prayer is

At those moments

We will use our awareness of disconnection

To open our minds and hearts

To feel your presence in the stillness

And the connection :

To your never ending love
