The swing and the swim

I will speak for both sides

Because I do think there is a pathway through the middle

Beyond the extremes

Even though its not reasonable to believe

We should stick to it

When life leads us towards the intense

And we often do not know

All that really happened to us

In those first years and in the womb

Before we had a hippocampus

Or a thinking brain

So when you say

Its all a matter of weak will

Don’t expect me to believe

When I know there are truths that lie deeper

Than at times reason could ever explain

Feminine and Masculine

Active and Passive

Venus and Mars

There are these bi polar archetypes

That subsume us

And in this world

We so often swing

Like the pendulum

Seeking the weight of gravity

Or the thrill of air

And what we get to live at first

Is so often not of our choosing

And along the path

It remains for us to work to reclaim

Some dry land from ocean

But still that ocean is always there

Asking us once again

To surrender our minds and swim

And so I do

And as I meander through that watery terrain

I remember what it was to believe

I was truely

Lost

And life and dry land

Would never ever ever

Appear again
