Psychiatric abuse is like domestic violence…

So sad but oh so true…. we need to raise awareness.

My response to Adam and then to the general topic at hand:

No…people don’t generally believe it…and that’s what has to change. I’m so sorry that happened to you too.

Mental health “care” is extremely violent with far more frequency than people are willing to believe. I was thrown down a flight of stairs at 19 years old by four cops. I was a skinny little thing -120 lbs — and I wasn’t fighting…just not moving fast enough. That’s police brutality and again, it’s frighteningly normal. I hear stories from readers…

"The religious naturalist is provisioned with tales of natural emergence that are, to my mind, far more magical than traditional miracles. Emergence is inherent in everything that is alive, allowing our yearning for supernatural miracles to be subsumed by our joy in the countless miracles that surround us." Ursula Goodenough How to describe oneself? People are a mystery and there is so much more to us than just our particular experiences or occupations. I could write down a list of attributes and they still might not paint a complete picture pf Deborah Louise and in any case it would not be the full truth of me. I would say that my purpose here on Wordpress is to express some of my random experiences, thoughts and feelings, to share about my particular journey and explore some subjects dear to my heart, such as emotional recovery, healing and astrology while posting up some of the prose/poems which are an outgrowth of my labours with life, love and relationships. If anything I write touches you I would be so pleased to hear for the purpose of reaching out and expressung ourselves is hopefully to connect with each other and find where our souls meet.

      1. my great aunt suffered as well. Just after she had a stroke in her 70s, the neurologist said her imaging showed she had several strokes previously. His guess was that she had a stroke just after giving birth, and that when she could not talk properly in combination with an abusive husband that the psychiatrists misdiagnosed her with schizophrenia, and when she was institutionalized and given shock treatment on top of it, it made her worse.

      2. Oh no… that is just awful Gail. I often think events such as strokes or even Parkinsons are symptoms of blocked or trapped life energy that could never be freed due to repression or abuse. I am so sorry that your Aunt suffered so much. ❤ ❤

      3. She actually Parkinson’s as well. Which made them think her shakiness was from anxiety/schizophrenia. She’s with the Lord now. She outlived all 7 of 8 siblings, her husband, and grown daughter.

      4. She was a very lovely lady. I hung a picture I found of her dressed for a dance as a young woman in her hospital room. A long beautiful simply white dress flowing down her tall body. Her doctors would just stand there and stare at it forever. They thanked me for putting it up and instructed the nurses not to let it be taken down. They said it personified her, and made them aware of how much her life had already been taken from her. They needed to value what she had left. They completely floored me with their reaction.

      5. Gail that would make the most wonderful film or story. That is amazing and it reminds me that even in very painful circumstances a glimpse of light or recognition comes. Thanks so much for sharing all that with me. Could you write a poem about her? Just an idea. Hugs to you ((–))

      6. I have a few times, but I am ashamed to say that I don’t remember specifically where it is. As I am going through them, when I come across the I will share. And I will look for a copy of that picture. I will pray for the Lord to help write some new ones for her.
She has a sad but beautiful story.
