Stop
Breathe
Let yourself be still for a while
And feel the sadness and these tears that want to rise
Let your heart open to love
Even if deep within this sadness
You feel an abyss of emptiness opening
Rest there and wait until the outgoing tide returns
To fill your heart again
Listen to the inner voice that says
You were born for this
You were born for love
Do not let the killing forces of culture and fear
Block your heart from loving
For now
I tell you
It is simply enough
To be a force for love
(Many of my poems arise during mindfulness meditation. This one came to me this morning after thinking of seeing my sister so low in the hospital yesterday. It came in response to my prayers.)
Such a powerful but peaceful piece… It is immediately evident that this is a product of deep meditative thinking. This brought a stillness and calming to me just through a mental read-through. Great work here.
