I would love to believe
That dreams do not end
That there is a way back
To that lost kingdom of long ago
That I stumbled on like Parsifal
I would love to believe that the way back
Will not be barred
By brambles thickets and thorns
That tear my flesh
Even if that is what I project
As the result of allowing a heart
So full of wanting to beat so fast in anticipation of joy
And manufacture only threat
So long ago I believed that love was not for me
Nor happiness
Was destruction not just waiting
Around the corner
If I longed or wished or wanted too much?
But maybe these thoughts were just my defence
Against the vulnerability of a heart opened to
The fullness of foreboding joy
That floods the banks of my being
Awakening me to
My deepest longing
My deepest desire
My richest imagining
an amazing poem my dear! β€

Here’s to loosing ourselves of the brambles, thickets and thorns and just letting our hearts fly.
Lovely piece, Deb.
