Peace you arrive calmly and gently
Stealing in on stockinged feet
And perhaps that is why
So many of us miss you
Searching always for the fanfare
Or the obvious shiny thing
And when we hit up against pain
Running or arguing or fighting
Instead of saying
“Hello pain. What is it you have come to say?”
But now I am listening
For that it is when peace is found
Arising deep within
After struggle’s defeat
And certainly there are times we must go to war
But on the return to ourselves
As we draw or open the blinds
Let us sit quietly and just for a moment
In fully awakened presence
Calmly surrender to ourselves
And acknowledge the visitation of peace
Beautifully written, an ode to our journey β€ π
