Poetry is sweet
But your body was sweeter
To taste with my skin
Deep within a place of wanting
As flesh on flesh
We opened and surrendered
To that silent poetry that lay within
And when you left
Poetry was all I had
To comfort my weary soul
Lost opportunities will
Not come again
But memories of the tender times we touched
Will sustain me on lonely nights
Memories of those golden magic moments
Where the promise of love
Let our souls open in hope
For just a while
Before hope shattered
On the rocks of cruel abandon
Hurt carved its agony traces on our soul
And when our hearts burned
With that slow dying fire
All that remaiened in the end
Were ashes
Lost embers of hollowed out wanting
Grown cold in the stark daylight
And yet
Deep within the empty spaces left
Poetry
Still remains
Gives shape to all of this
A many facetted symbol
Of comfort
Containing pain
Mute and bittersweet
Rolling in thunder clouds
Beneath my feet
Beautiful poetry dear… 🙂

There IS something to that quote “Better to have loved and lost . .”, but it doesn’t salve the melancholy if your memories proceed too far.
This is a lovely piece, it describes that ache perfectly.
Peace

Thanks. Yes painful as those really heartbreaking relationships are they do have tender moments. I dont know if knowing the way I was hurt in that relationship I would have agreed to it all before but I was where I was at the time. And I learned a lot. So….. Thanks for the lovely feeback. So much appreciated 🙂
