There is a precious comfort in silence

Since you died

In early afternoons

As it arrives

To surround me in mid summer blush

I sink down into it

And if like a novice who feels they may drown

Or be erased by this tide

I flail

Just for a moment

Words will arrive unsummoned

Forming a life raft

I float upon here

Reminding me

Of your ever present love

Are you really gone

Or just in another world

That interpenetrates this one?

How is it that I can feel you

All around me

And hear your voice guiding me?

Are you now my guardian angel?

Is the soothing caress of the breeze

Your touch?

It’s all I feel I really need

This afternoon

Silence

What comfort you bring

Surround me with your touch

Help me to let go

And float gently upon this inward ocean

Calmed by the soothing tidal flow of peace

That carries me home
